Travelers can travel to Pangong Tso from Nubra Valley either from Agham_ShyokValley route or from Agham_WariLa route. And our itinerary has been prepared for the 1st one. Distance on this road between Khalsar to Pangong Tso is less than the WariLa route. 

Everybody says that the Shyok route is very dangerous in July/August. But we are very much excited to explore the most adventures route. That was the 1st half of July month. During summer months the snow is melting and there will be several streams of water that have to go through the route. Entire stretch is full of loose rocks, big rocks, rocks under water alongwith sand dunes and dirt valley to cross on the route too. Most of the time this route run right next to the Shyok river and sometimes there will be gain in altitude through rocky hills. We have to cross the river several times enroute.

Somewhere road was completely covered by melting glacial water streams. All the time we need to practice caution while crossing the water, there may be some big and unstable rocks under the water. A vehicle with good ground clearance is best for this route & our vehicle is Innova with 4 person excluding driver. This road has several landslide prone area. Falling stones from up above the hills is another big concern and risk. But it is needless to say that the road is highly scenic and best for photography. 

We are lucky enough to travel through this unpredictable route without facing any hurdle. Earlier, on way to Nubra from Leh we got stuck for more than four & half hours in KhardungLa because of avalanches. So, we had already win over fear. Isaac bhaiya, our driver cum guide has so much of early experiences about this route and take us on this way without facing any difficulties. We started our day long journey so early in the morning from Nubra Valley that we could crossed the difficult road before melting water fills the road and reach Pangong at the earliest. 😊

The road is full of adventurous that you would remember for rest of the life. We did it 😊
